Scientists of the Bashkir State Medical University successfully represent the Republic of Bashkortostan and the Russian Federation at international events in various areas of biomedical sciences.
There are over 15 000 medical students, including more than 5 200 international students from 64 countries. More than 1 200 residents and PhD students, 7 000 physicians in postgraduate CME courses are training in our University.
Thanks to the international summits of SCO and BRICS, which were held in the capital of the Republic of Bashkortostan in 2015, Ufa became a new congress center of Russia.

Bashkir State Medical University is a large scientific center, where basic and applied research, experimental and clinical testing are conducted. Successful results of performed research are actively introduced into educational process and healthcare work.
Scientific and innovative activities of BSMU, financed by state and attracted funds, are supervised by Vice-Rector for Research and Innovation.
Scientific infrastructure of BSMU includes:

University build a bridge between theory and practice. Our faculty and students have opportunity to implement their knowledge and skills in University Affilated Hospital and University dental Clinic.
University Affilated Hospital is a unique medical institution, and a teaching, medical and scientific base of Bashkir State Medical University. There are 755 beds, annually over 25000 patients get treatment; more than 15 000 surgeries are performed, and about 4 000 babies are delivered here.
It is equipped with modern CT and MRI, up-to-date digital biplane angiography system with electrophysiology laboratory and intracardiac navigation system and single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT).
BSMU Clinic surgeons perform high-tech surgeries, among which there are placement of intrabronchial valves, surgical reconstruction of trachea, video-assisted thoracic lobectomy, endovascular manipulations, minimally invasive abdominal surgeries, laparoscopic liver and pancreas resections, prostatectomy, stomach and small intestine reconstructive surgeries, pelvic exenterations, brachytherapy, cryoablation of bone metastases.
BSMU Clinic regularly hosts master-classes of prominent Russian and foreign specialists in order to promote transfer of leading medical technologies(more than 50 master-classes annually).
In 2018 the Robotic Surgery Center has been opened in BSMU Clinic.
Robot-assisted surgery is at the forefront of operative medicine. Technical progress, reflected in the improvement of computer technology, digital equipment and robotic instruments allowed us to bring minimally invasive surgery to an entirely new level of visualization and accuracy.

Bashkir State Medical University proposes the integral system of educational, social and extracurricular activities, which is supported by the administration, Academic Council, deans, faculty, and structural units of the University.
Specialists of the Department carry out its work in close cooperation with youth public organizations: Student Council, BSMU Students' Trade Union, structural units: Educational and Sport Complex №10, Volunteer Crew, Student Sports Club, etc.

You will find necessary information regarding the application procedure below.
Please be informed that according to its License the University is bound to provide the medical education in Russian language with assisted use of English during first 3 years.
Russian language is necessary for students from 3rd year to communicate with patients.
For students who wish to study Medicine in English medium, education will be provided in English language for the initial 3 years. From the 4th year most of the lectures will be in English, all the practical classes will be taught in Russian.

All documents must be translated to Russian and duly certified (recognized or certified at a consular department of the embassy). Please use your official name (as on passport and on all your application documents).
Step 1 — Initial application
Eligibility criteria:
You have to prepare and send the following documents via e-mail or form below:

That your passport should be valid for at least 2.5 years
from the date of application.
Note!
That according to the legislation of the Russian Federation the documents issued
in another country can be accepted by the Russian universities only after the
procedure of legalization and recognition. For details click hyperlink.
Step 2 — Receive a student's invitation (takes about 30 days) and apply for visa
You will receive the invitation via email which is provided to us in the application form.
Note!
Receiving an invitation alone is NOT sufficient to enter Russia.
Step 3 — Arrival to russia
You must fill your migration card on arrival to the Russian Federation at the airport, after which you will receive a stamp at the Border Control services desk. This stamp confirms your entry in the Russian Federation.

You must submit your migration card to the university officials on arrival as it is proof of
your entry in the Russian Federation.
On the day of your arrival or the next day (except for weekends) you have to visit the office of External Affairs and Foreign Students with the following documents:
Importance!
All foreign students must submit the documents for registration to the Dean's Office for
International Students within 3 days after their entry in the Russian Federation. The penalty
for failing to complete the registration in time may vary from paying a fine to deportation from
Russia.

And finally, you have to submit your documents to the Admission Committee.
Step 4 — Medical check-up and vaccination
All applicants will have a medical check-up to assess eligibility for further studies in medical university (cost approx. 4000 RUB). If necessary vaccination is missed, the applicant must do all necessary vaccines. Note! All international students are obliged to have medical insurance (approx. 4500 RUB per year).
Step 5 — Entrance examinations
The entrance examination will be held on a competitive basis for applicants. You will be tested on your knowledge of chemistry and biology.
